Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Advice:
-
Activate MFA on all accounts that support it. MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification beyond just the password.
- Something you know (password)
- Something you have (a smartphone or hardware token)
- Something you are (biometric data like fingerprints or facial recognition)
- Use an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator) instead of SMS-based methods, as SMS can be vulnerable to interception and SIM-swapping attacks.
- Ensure that recovery options (like backup codes) are safely stored in a secure location to regain access in case the primary method is lost.
